Onsite Hard Drive Shredding – We Shred Your Hard Drives At Your Office

Our trucks have the necessary equipment on board to perform hard drive shredding right there in your office or building. You can be there present and watch (if you want to) as we destroy your hard drives by shredding them into small particles. We will provide a Certificate of Destruction upon request.

Offsite Hard Drive Shredding – Secure Transport – Secure Chain of Custody – Secure Data Destruction – Environmentally Friendly Disposal

We offer mobile hard drive destruction. Our crews will collect, label, and seal all storage media in locked boxes and transport them to our secured facility. Chain of Custody is tightly controlled. To learn more about our process – visit Our Processes Page

Once inside our secure facility, every step of the process is documented and verified. Every piece of equipment is tested and verified for proper data destruction. Data destruction certificates and reports are available upon request. And lastly – your e waste is disposed of properly to protect the environment from the hazardous materials left over from e waste recycling efforts and hard drive shredding.

Hard Drive Shredding - Data Destruction – Data Security

We shred hard drives. This means that when we put your hard drive through our machine, it is ground up into tiny little pieces and there is NO CHANCE of your secure data being recovered from the tiny little pieces they end up in.

Many hard drive destruction do not have state of the art hard drive shredders. Because of this, they often resort to “crushing” hard drives to try and destroy the data on them. They might also use “drilling” or even “punching” to try and destroy a hard drive.

Hard Drive Crushing might sound secure, but sometimes all they are doing is putting your hard drive in a hand pumped hydraulic press and basically “smashing” them. Will this guarantee data destruction? How can you be sure? Though it might fracture the internal hard drive components sufficiently to make the data non-recoverable, and then again, it might not.

Hope is not a good strategy with regard to protecting data. HIPAA Compliance puts all of the outcomes on you, as do many other data and privacy protection laws. It isn’t good enough to say you “tried” your best. You are expected to KNOW the methods available to you for ensuring Personal Information cannot be lost, stolen, or recovered and use them.

In fact, one of the worst practices companies use to “try” and avoid sensitive data being lost or stolen when hardware, IT Assets, and media become obsolete is to “store it” securely in a basement or storage room of some kind. Storing old computers, media, hardware versus having it destroyed immediately has lead to some of the largest HIPAA fines ever levied against a company for negligence. The hardware was stolen and resold because an employee thought nobody was using that old laptop, and nobody would miss it, and they took out of storage, took it home and then later sold it on eBay.

Until a hard drive is shredded, or wiped by industry best practices, tested, and tested again, you cannot KNOW your or you clients/customers information is secure, and if it gets out of your control, you are still liable for whatever happens to it after that.

When you work with us you don’t have to worry about any of that – we shred hard drives. We don’t smash them.

Environmental Considerations – Where Did Your Hard Drive End Up?

Many of the individual components contained in hard drives (and computers, laptops, cell phones, printers etc.) are terrible for the environment. When we shred your hard drive, none of the remaining components will end up in a landfill – or in an overseas landfill – or an overseas “chop shop” – or worse, in the ocean.

Unfortunately, all of these things can happen and do happen every day around the world. But if you work with us, you can rest easy knowing that we verify ALL of our downstream vendors. We know precisely where your materials end up. We verify it because we care a great deal about the environment, and we know our customers do too.

But beyond just caring about the environment – your e-waste is your legal responsibility, and it is up to you to ensure it is disposed of properly. The last thing you want is the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) showing up at your workplace to begin an investigating because they found your electronic components improperly disposed of. The fines and the cost of environmental remediation can be astronomical. Where your e waste ends up matters.

Shredding Computers, Hard Drives, and Media After Someone Becomes Deceased

Most people will leave behind computers, laptops, old cell phones, tablets, printers, CD’s and DVD’s, digital cameras, mini-SSD storage drives, thumb drives, kindle book readers, etc. To protect a deceased persons personal information, banking info, left behind photos, deeds, business papers, tax papers, receipts, etc. from being recovered by thieves and/or used for identity theft, it is important to have these devices all checked over, data destroyed properly, tested, destroy anything found, and test it again. All it takes is some software and a little creativity to restore files and items you may have thought were destroyed.

You can’t just “smash” these devices and know they are safe. Modern hardware and media storage devices are resistant to damage inflicted by impact. You can’t just run over that old laptop with your truck and expect the data to be destroyed. You can’t smash a mini-SSD drive with a hammer and expect it to be secure. Some smaller media storage devices must be broken up into pieces smaller than two millimeters to be secure.

We have seen all of these methods tried and fail. When you turn over electronic devices to Life Cycle Solutions, you can know these devices will have their data destroyed using industry best practices, be secure, and stay that way.
